Ryrie NASB Study Bible

To the left is a picture of this study Bible. It's another pretty good source for study. Not my personal favorite, but each of us is a little different in what we want.
The main thing is that it's a NASB study Bible, which is my preferred translation since it uses both the Hebrew and Greek text for its word-for-word translation.
As you grow in your study of God's Word and become a stronger Christian, you desire to know more. For me, I'd rather had the word-for-word translation and then let the Holy Spirit guide me. Like most Christians, I also grew up on the KVJ and NIV as well. Nothing wrong with those.
The Ryrie NASB Study Bible contains about 10,000 concise explanatory notes, which is about half the amount of other study Bibles. Still, the notes tend to be different, so there's nothing wrong with buying multiple Bibles.
I tend to like hardcover Bibles as they are a little less expensive (again, more money to buy more Christian products). The Ryrie Study Bible is available in hardcover, bonded leather and genuine leather.
I should point out that this study Bible comes with a free Bible study DVD. This might make it worth it to you as the DVD has a lot of great stuff, like this:
- Three Bible translations: NASB, KJV, and NIV
- The Message Bible paraphrase
- MacArthur Commentaries preview (30-days)
- Matthew Henry Commentaries
- New Ungers Bible Dictionary
- Nave's Topical Index
- Strongs Concordance
- more
I have the printed versions of these things, so I can tell you that this DVD is of great value. While I love the printed Word of God and tools, getting this DVD for free is amazing.
In fact, even though I love the Zondervan NASB Study Bible, if you've yet to purchase many tools for God's Word, you might think about getting this (deal below) because of the DVD it comes with. Even if you find deals, you'll easily spend over $100 (if not $200+) on what the DVD contains. And that's not including the 3 Bibles it has, so add another $100.

Here's an example of the study notes, taken from Genesis 1:2.

Study notes from Ryrie NASB Study Bible
1:2 - the earth was formless and void. Some understand a "gap" of an indeterminate period of time between verses 1 and 2 and translate "became" rather than "was." Although the Hebrew word may mean "became" (as in 19:26), the construction of the clause does not support a consecutive statement describing something that happened subsequent to verse 1 ("and") but rather describing something included in verse 1 ("but"). In other words, the initial creation was formless and empty, a conditioned soon remedied. See note on Isa. 45:18. The phrase means that at this point in God's creative activity the earth was yet unfashioned and uninhabited. (there's more, but I cut it off here)
